Pretty in Pink

Happy Thursday everyone!

I may be a skeptic to love at first sight, but I certainly believe in love at first sight with clothes. As soon as I "spotted" this skirt at Ann Taylor, I was swooning (cue floating hearts, romantic music, and throw in Ryan Gosling for good measure). It's one of those pieces that seems to always get a compliment when I wear it out. Ever since I can remember, I had a tendency to gravitate towards polka-dots. Is it bad that one of my earliest style icons was Minnie Mouse? (Um, hello - red polka dot dress anyone?) Even now, a majority of my closet consists on polka-dotted somethings - be it skirts, shirts, pants, scarves, or shoes. The bottom line is if it has dots, I'm most likely a fan.

Truth be told, I'm not one of those girls that wears a lot of pink. I've always preferred neutrals and black, however, one should never get too comfortable with the dark side. This explains my conscious effort recently to add more bright colors to my wardrobe. I decided to pair the skirt with a light summer knit I found at Zara. It's not quite pepto-abysmal and it's not shocking pink...it's a happy medium in-between. It also tied well with my "Crystal Eyes" bracelet.

For most outfits, the piece de resistance for me will always be the shoes. I wanted to counter-balance a little edge to the playful and girly polka dots of the outfit. In simplistic terms, I would describe them as part dominatrix, part prima donna, and complete badass. On top of that, can you believe they're actually comfortable?

Hope you enjoyed!

xoxo
